Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. ★★★★ The BEST Band For Any Wedding or Event

My husband & I booked Hit Play for our December 2022 wedding. We, and our guests, truly are speechless and for many reasons. Ryan acted as MC and did a fantastic job with the ceremony music, cocktail hour music, and reception introductions, transitions, and music. Ryan even performed a life rendition of our first song dance (it's an older song from the 1930's and did not have an appropriate recorded version for our first dance vision). This meant he learned the entire song, lyrics and all, and played it on his guitar. It was incredible and exactly how we envisioned it, except BETTER. We are so thankful to Ryan for learning that song for us, and can't thank him enough. It made it truly special! In addition, we've heard nothing but compliments and good things from all of our guests (ranging in age from 84 years old to 3 years old) about the live music performed by the band and the DJ music. The band sounded fantastic, the song selections were perfect, and all of the different instruments and vocal ranges were just simply outstanding. Lastly, rounding the night off with that last song (that the band also had just learned ahead of our wedding, and was performing it live for the first time together)...wow. It was all around such a fun day/night, largely in part because of Hit Play. We don't know what to say to express how grateful and thankful we are for finding and booking Hit Play for our special day, so: thank you to Ryan and all of the bandmates so very much. You all were a huge part of creating our dream day/night, and we are grateful to have found you guys. Music is one of the hardest choices for a couple during the planning process and Hit Play was one of the best decisions for our wedding! Ryan was organized, helpful, and flexible leading up to the big day which made me feel at ease. The band was super accommodating as they traveled 2 hours during a heat wave (98 degrees and rising) without a complaint or worry whatsoever. At an extremely reasonable price, Ryan was available for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Ryan’s smooth like butter voice serenaded the crowd with the best playlist curated mostly by the band with some guidance from us during the planning process. Most importantly our guests loved what Hit Play had to offer and never left the dance floor. Hit Play helped us create beautiful memories to reminisce on forever.

It was a pleasure working with Ryan and his band HitPlay! Ryan was extremely responsive and patient with me during the booking process. He even made a DJ add on to the band package happen last minute! He took the time to review the form I filled out prior to the wedding to make sure he understood all the details and special requests we had for our wedding! Everything went off with out a hitch! The live acoustic music at our cocktail hour really added a classy feel to it which we loved! The band played classic crooner music during dinner which was exactly what we wanted. The DJ spun some amazing mixes playing off the crowd’s energy which was amazing. The band had everyone dancing and singing along all night. Everyone loved them! 5 stars ⭐️

★★★★ An Incredible Band That's Perfect For Your Wedding

Our wedding guests could not say enough good things about Hit Play. All night, they had people in every generation on the dance floor. They absolutely crushed our ten must-play songs, featuring them in the right moments to maximize their impact. And the rest of their set list had the perfect pacing and energy. We wanted a real band rather than a traditional wedding band. Musicians who loved to play together, and do so nightly at bars in the city, not ones meeting for the first time that night. And we can’t tell you how many people noticed the difference and thanked me for that. To those guests on the wedding circuit, Hit Play’s energy and talent was fresh and undeniable. But they weren’t just great musicians. Ryan was professional and easy to work with from the very first call through the night of the wedding. All to say, we can’t recommend Hit Play more heartily.
