Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. We booked Hit Play for our recent wedding and had the absolute best experience! From the beginning Ryan was extremely helpful and responsive. We had Ryan play acoustic for our ceremony and cocktail hour which I highly recommend! The band absolutely killed it for our reception. We had people of all ages at our wedding and almost every person was engaged and out on the dance floor. So many people commented Hit Play made our entire wedding, which I totally agree with! We contacted several bands for quotes and have been to weddings with other bands and I really think Hit Play was worth every penny we spent!

We had Hit Play at our August 2023 wedding in Maine. Ryan was amazing to work with leading up to our day! He was incredibly responsive and accommodated each of our requests. They have flexible packages to fit various needs and price points and soooo many songs/vibes to choose from. The planning document was so helpful and Ryan offered great suggestions. We got so many compliments on our band from wedding guests. They are amazing!!

It was a pleasure working with Ryan and his band HitPlay! Ryan was extremely responsive and patient with me during the booking process. He even made a DJ add on to the band package happen last minute! He took the time to review the form I filled out prior to the wedding to make sure he understood all the details and special requests we had for our wedding! Everything went off with out a hitch! The live acoustic music at our cocktail hour really added a classy feel to it which we loved! The band played classic crooner music during dinner which was exactly what we wanted. The DJ spun some amazing mixes playing off the crowd’s energy which was amazing. The band had everyone dancing and singing along all night. Everyone loved them! 5 stars ⭐️
