Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. It was a pleasure working with Ryan and his band HitPlay! Ryan was extremely responsive and patient with me during the booking process. He even made a DJ add on to the band package happen last minute! He took the time to review the form I filled out prior to the wedding to make sure he understood all the details and special requests we had for our wedding! Everything went off with out a hitch! The live acoustic music at our cocktail hour really added a classy feel to it which we loved! The band played classic crooner music during dinner which was exactly what we wanted. The DJ spun some amazing mixes playing off the crowd’s energy which was amazing. The band had everyone dancing and singing along all night. Everyone loved them! 5 stars ⭐️

Hit Play and get ready to party! A live band was one of the non-negotiables for our wedding. Though we only had 6 months to plan our wedding, we didn’t just want a cookie cutter wedding band. We both love music and wanted to make sure we had a band that would keep the entire night moving. We got that and much more with Hit Play! From the moment we first reached out, Ryan was incredibly fast and friendly with his responses. The band has a very diverse catalog and they pay attention to the details with special song requests and blending together the genres you want to hear for the night. Having the conversation with Ryan a few weeks before the wedding really sealed the deal and we knew we were in good hands. From providing excellent MC duties, to learning covers, and offering DJ services, Hit Play really does it all. They even let the groom’s band play a few songs to kick off the night which made it that much more special and memorable for us and all our guests! We had about 100 people at our wedding and the dance floor was packed all night, which was exactly what we were hoping for. Months later, our guests are still talking about how much fun they had and how great the band was. This is a talented and accommodating group for sure, so don’t hesitate to book them!

We used Hit Play for our November wedding, and would definitely recommend them for any couples looking for a dance floor that will be full all night! From our first conversations with him, Ryan was so kind, patient with our many questions, and put us at ease. He did a wonderful job with all aspects of the wedding - ceremony music, cocktail hour set list, easy listening music during dinner, and MCing all speeches/introductions. We had a few “must play” songs that the band did an awesome job with. We made a scheduling change regarding speeches just a few days before the wedding and Ryan was responsive and helpful in making sure all that went perfectly! I also love that there are so many different options to fit different budgets. If you are looking for a wedding band, Hit Play is the way to go!

Ryan and his band absolutely blew all expectations I had out of the water. When it came to music and entertainment I didn’t have to worry about a single thing on my wedding day. Ryan was happy to help offer suggestions on intro songs when we couldn’t decide and it was exactly what we wanted. All of the guests danced the night away and had so much fun! I can’t wait to have an excuse to have another event so that we can have Hit Play come and perform again. Our day was absolutely perfect and a big part of that was due to Hit Play. Ryan and the band are excellent and absolutely made the night memorable. I would give them 10 stars if I could!
