About The Band

Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. With nearly 400 songs to choose from and state of the art sound system and uplighting, Hit Play will make the night perfect. Meet the Band

The core members of Hit Play consist of drums, bass, guitar and male and female vocals. We can customize the band to suit your needs. We can add keyboard and or saxophone to add to the core sound and versatility allowing us to cover a wider range of music. If you’re on a lower budget but still want live music combined with DJ services Hit Play also does weddings as a duo! Ask about pricing.

We cannot say enough about Ryan and Hit Play! We hired them for our June wedding in Massachusetts and they completely blew us away. They had the dance floor packed the entire night. We used Hit Play for our November wedding, and would definitely recommend them for any couples looking for a dance floor that will be full all night! From our first conversations with him, Ryan was so kind, patient with our many questions, and put us at ease. He did a wonderful job with all aspects of the wedding - ceremony music, cocktail hour set list, easy listening music during dinner, and MCing all speeches/introductions. We had a few “must play” songs that the band did an awesome job with. We made a scheduling change regarding speeches just a few days before the wedding and Ryan was responsive and helpful in making sure all that went perfectly! I also love that there are so many different options to fit different budgets. If you are looking for a wedding band, Hit Play is the way to go!
