Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. Ryan and his band were nothing short of fantastic. He is responsive, personable, funny, and genuinely wants to make sure your dance floor is everything you want it to be. For us, we wanted a PACKED dance floor all night long, carried by a lively 7 piece band. Through our many emails/texts/meetings, we chatted about what I thought my guests would want to hear and not want to hear. I picked out a few request songs, but other than that I did not give him a song list, nor did I feel the need to. And DAMN did he deliver. My guests ALL NIGHT were asking me if my husband and I hand picked the song list because it was so true to us as a couple while also resonating with our family and friends. I happily told them NOPE, no set list was provided - Ryan just knows his stuff, how to read/work a crowd, and the vibe we were going for. We had so much fun and as we saw family and friends after our honeymoon, the FIRST thing they remember and want to talk about was the band. Best day ever - it would NOT have been the same without Ryan and his incredible band mates! HIRE THEM!

We used Hit Play for our November wedding, and would definitely recommend them for any couples looking for a dance floor that will be full all night! From our first conversations with him, Ryan was so kind, patient with our many questions, and put us at ease. He did a wonderful job with all aspects of the wedding - ceremony music, cocktail hour set list, easy listening music during dinner, and MCing all speeches/introductions. We had a few “must play” songs that the band did an awesome job with. We made a scheduling change regarding speeches just a few days before the wedding and Ryan was responsive and helpful in making sure all that went perfectly! I also love that there are so many different options to fit different budgets. If you are looking for a wedding band, Hit Play is the way to go!

I cannot say enough good things about Ryan and Hit Play. They were the talk of the night at our wedding. Every member of the band is incredibly talented and engaging, and Lynn is an absolute rockstar. We considered a lot of bands for our wedding, and absolutely made the best choice with Hit Play.
