Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. With nearly 400 songs to choose from and state of the art sound system and uplighting, Hit Play will make the night perfect. Our wedding guests could not say enough good things about Hit Play. All night, they had people in every generation on the dance floor. They absolutely crushed our ten must-play songs, featuring them in the right moments to maximize their impact. And the rest of their set list had the perfect pacing and energy. We wanted a real band rather than a traditional wedding band. Musicians who loved to play together, and do so nightly at bars in the city, not ones meeting for the first time that night. Hit Play is the BEST! We recently had them perform at our wedding and couldn’t be happier. From start to finish, everything was seamless. Ryan was incredible to work with—responsive, accommodating, and truly committed to making our day perfect. The band is really talented and the vocals and sax were a HIT! What stood out the most was how unbelievably flexible the team was. We had planned for a string quartet to play our ceremony outdoors, but due to on-and-off rain, they couldn’t perform outside. Without missing a beat, Ryan quickly stepped in, set up a speaker, and made sure the ceremony music we'd carefully chosen was ready to go. His quick thinking and helpfulness was so appreciated. Highly recommend Hit Play for any event—exceptional service and talent!
