Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. Our wedding guests could not say enough good things about Hit Play. All night, they had people in every generation on the dance floor. They absolutely crushed our ten must-play songs, featuring them in the right moments to maximize their impact. And the rest of their set list had the perfect pacing and energy. We wanted a real band rather than a traditional wedding band. Musicians who loved to play together, and do so nightly at bars in the city, not ones meeting for the first time that night. And we can’t tell you how many people noticed the difference and thanked me for that. To those guests on the wedding circuit, Hit Play’s energy and talent was fresh and undeniable. But they weren’t just great musicians. Ryan was professional and easy to work with from the very first call through the night of the wedding. All to say, we can’t recommend Hit Play more heartily.

We had an absolute BLAST with Hit Play! They were so easy to work with and they were a crowd pleaser. Our guests literally danced the night away and had to be forced off the dance floor. Ryan was excellent about specifics and communication and such a pleasure to work with. We had some unique song requests for our ceremony and they fulfilled each and every one. We had the 6-piece band and would definitely work with them again. They play it all and they are SO MUCH FUN!

We can’t say enough good things about Ryan and Hit Play. From the very start, Ryan was incredibly organized, communicative, and genuinely invested in making sure our wedding music was exactly what we envisioned. He walked through every detail with us ahead of time, asked thoughtful questions, and made sure all of our preferences and special requests were understood. The music throughout the entire event was spot-on. The acoustic cocktail hour set created such a great atmosphere. The dance floor was packed all night long.
