Based in southeastern Massachusetts and formed in 2015 by some of the area's most accomplished musicians, Hit Play has quickly earned a solid reputation as one of the hottest live wedding and event party bands in New England. The band’s leader, guitarist and singer, Ryan McHugh is well known in the Boston area for his ability to entertain a room by utilizing his 22 years of experience working professionally in the live music industry. Drawing on this experience, Hit Play performs in top club venues from Boston to Newport and at top wedding venues all over New England. The band is well known for their incredibly versatile repertoire - consisting of anything from rock, pop, funk, country, alternative and hip-hop to name a few. Ryan will work with you to select the perfect song choices for your event. Unlike most Boston wedding bands that have a set list of songs that vary only a little from one event to another, the band can call from a variety of genres during performances to perfectly fit the crowd and the vibe of your event. With nearly 400 songs to choose from and state of the art sound system and uplighting, Hit Play will make the night perfect. Ryan and the Hit Play band were one of our favorite parts of our wedding! We opted for their 7-piece option and couldn’t have asked for a better, more high-energy band! The dance floor was packed all night and our friends and family are still commenting on how fun our band was months after our wedding! Ryan was very easy to work with throughout the wedding planning process and was always available to answer our questions as they came up. We had the band play our first dance, father/daughter, and mother/son songs live and they were AMAZING! We also had Ryan and a few other band members play during our ceremony and cocktail hour and highly recommend adding this on! We can’t recommend Ryan and Hit Play enough. Our wedding guests could not say enough good things about Hit Play. All night, they had people in every generation on the dance floor. They absolutely crushed our ten must-play songs, featuring them in the right moments to maximize their impact. And the rest of their set list had the perfect pacing and energy. We wanted a real band rather than a traditional wedding band. Musicians who loved to play together, and do so nightly at bars in the city, not ones meeting for the first time that night. And we can’t tell you how many people noticed the difference and thanked me for that. To those guests on the wedding circuit, Hit Play’s energy and talent was fresh and undeniable. But they weren’t just great musicians. Ryan was professional and easy to work with from the very first call through the night of the wedding. All to say, we can’t recommend Hit Play more heartily.

Ryan and his band were nothing short of fantastic. He is responsive, personable, funny, and genuinely wants to make sure your dance floor is everything you want it to be. For us, we wanted a PACKED dance floor all night long, carried by a lively 7 piece band. Through our many emails/texts/meetings, we chatted about what I thought my guests would want to hear and not want to hear. I picked out a few request songs, but other than that I did not give him a song list, nor did I feel the need to. And DAMN did he deliver. My guests ALL NIGHT were asking me if my husband and I hand picked the song list because it was so true to us as a couple while also resonating with our family and friends. I happily told them NOPE, no set list was provided - Ryan just knows his stuff, how to read/work a crowd, and the vibe we were going for. We had so much fun and as we saw family and friends after our honeymoon, the FIRST thing they remember and want to talk about was the band. Best day ever - it would NOT have been the same without Ryan and his incredible band mates! HIRE THEM!
